We’re looking for a .NET Solutions Architect/Lead Developer to join our small but mighty testing team here at Freestyle.

Your role in a nutshell.

  • We’re looking for a .NET Solutions Architect / Lead Developer who is comfortable being client-facing and interpreting business objectives to design appropriate technical solutions, whilst assisting in leading and inspiring a well-established engineering team.
  • This role ideally suits an early stage .NET Solutions Architect, who has a strong senior developer track record from within an agency environment. You’ll be looking to develop your role to be more around solution design, whilst still remaining hands-on with the development of projects.
  • Your role will be uniquely positioned between the Engineering, UX and Strategy teams to lead the shaping of technical solutions based on requirements across an array of industries and businesses. You will be comfortable in mapping a businesses technical architecture, governance and objectives, to then work with our UX and Strategy team on layering the design of technical solutions.

  • Our beautiful barn conversion office/collaboration space is based near Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, and most of our engineering team love to operate from here almost daily, however this is a hybrid role - giving you the opportunity to work wherever, and however works best for you!

Freestyle engineering.

  • We have a long-standing track record of implementing enterprise-level CMS/DXP platforms such as Optimizely/Episerver and Sitecore, alongside custom integrations and web applications.   • As we move into delivering a wider breadth of technical solutions based on businesses needing more flexibility and adaptability, we are now building a future composable architecture strategy. This is currently in the form of engineer skills, new platform partnerships and early client projects.

What the day-to-day might look like.

You’ll be a hands-on lead developer resource on an array of platforms, products and services including but not limited to, native apps (iOS and Android), API integrations, microservices, web applications, CMS/DXP implementations and anything in between. The joy of owning and defining the technical implications of solution design...is that you’ll be largely responsible for informing the solution that you, and the engineering team will be building!

As we move into more composable architecture as an engineering team, you will be heavily contributing to our growth aligned around this with targeting new clients, platform partnerships, internal processes and skills..

You’ll be working closely with the Strategy team to ensure that solutions are guided by insights and offer your supporting skills in data, and you’ll support the Client Services team in managing client expectations, translating technical ‘jargon’ in to understandable, inspiring and exciting solutions, that ultimately support our clients in solving problems, optimising on opportunities and hitting their business objectives. 

You’ll also support our New Business team in preparing for pitches, and bringing ideas, concepts and prototypes to life through clearly defined technical implications...so communications skills, and a comfort in liaising with various stakeholders will be key. 

 

As a Solutions Architect you’ll:

  • Create high-level functional specifications from business and customer requirements, through to either native apps, CMS/DXP platforms, or M.A.C.H based solution design.
  • Have experience with building composable architecture applications
  • Be comfortable in DevOps, CI/CD (specifically Azure) 
  • Own the technical implications of solution design, based on business performance, scalability and governance.
  • Strong commercial acumen to influence the matching of business modes and core objectives with technical solution design
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend third party software to complement and enhance our solutions to meet client requirements.
  • Participate in pitches, planning and presentation of proposal decks, timelines and budgets
  • Own the definition of features, phases, and solution requirements in the form of SoW.

 

As a Lead Developer you’ll have:

  • Strong background in C# .NET/Core, MVC design pattern, and SQL Server
  • Knowledge of platforms such as Contentful, Contentstack, Algolia, Cloudinary
  • Capability to design APIs based on requirements, (using platforms like Swagger)
  • Strong experience with implementing CMS/DXP platforms (Episerver/Optimizely, Sitecore)
  • Have exposure to front-end frameworks like React / React Native
  • A keen eye on containsation with tools like Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Provide occasional ad hoc support for the testing and QA teams to test and debug various .NET applications

A few things that will help you smash it.

  • Experience working within an agency/studio environment
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple activities, across multiple projects, while ensuring consistent output and quality
  • Experience contributing to the creation of opportunity responses (RFP, RFI, etc.), proposals and in-person sales pitches
  • Driven and motivated
  • Strong communication skills; internal and external
  • Patience!
  • A hunger to stay abreast of emerging tech and trends, and communicate to the wider team
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ‘teamwork’ mentality
  • Responsive, reactive and approachable
  • Highly technical (hopefully this goes without saying!)
